Initial choosing to train as an engineer in 1971, David turned to another passion in technical theatre and trained as a stage manager at LAMDA in 1972

Joining The Royal National Theatre upon its opening David was involved in productions such as Hamlet, Tamburlaine, The Cherry Orchard and Volpone. In 1978 he was promoted to assistant production manager, first in the Olivier and then for the Cottesloe.

Between 1980 and 1982 David left the theatre world and was involved with the car scene organising events and car rallies and for a time he restored and competed cars professionally.

Spells at Theatr Clwyd, North Wales and as the technical director of the Leicester Haymarket Theatre followed before the founding of 'Edelstein Engineering' in 1984 and the launch of the first product, The Pin Hinge.

The pin hinge duly won the Association of British Theatre Technicians Product of the Year Award in 1984, officially becoming the Triple E pin hinge and Triple E Limited was created in July 1985.

Since the launch of the UniTrack system in 1988 Triple E has continued to develop its own stage curtain and scenery tracks along with design work for others. New manufacturing developments have followed, but always with an emphasis on maintaining the quality of design and materials that Triple E is known for.

David continues to have an active role in leading the firm with technical developments and high-end projects.
